Reviews

My son Elliot and I have been learning to play the guitar with Tony for 2 years. We both love our lessons and have both made great progress. Elliot has passed both debut and Grade 1 exams with distinction.
Tony is consistently patient with both of us and makes great efforts to find music for us to play which inspires and challenges us while thoroughly enjoying everything we play. I would highly recommend Tony as a guitar teacher for both adults and children.

“Tony is a wonderfully patient guitar tutor - essential for an aged beginner like myself. I thoroughly enjoy my lessons.
He readily adapts to the individual’s foibles and is very encouraging. I strongly recommend him ”

“I am a middle aged student, and I am being taught by Tony. His attitude towards his profession is of the highest quality. His patience and understanding of what his students require is second to none. I would recommend Tony to anyone I know without hesitation.”

I never in a million years thought I would be able to play a tune on a guitar. Tony is a great Tutor, patient and reassuring.
It proves you are never too old to learn. A great way to keep the brain cells working. I am looking forward to my next lesson.
If I can play anyone can play. It’s a great stress buster. Thank you Tony.

Learning an instrument builds confidence and I've also seen it improve concentration and behaviour in younger students in school. Studies have shown learning an instrument also helps with numeracy and literature in school and memory in later life.

Private Teaching and Work Experience

I have 22 years experience of playing guitar and drums and as well as teaching privately, I have also been teaching in schools in Devon and Cornwall for 5 years and now run a music service for schools called IMS Music. I also look after the music provision in six schools and really enjoy my job.

I studied Music at the University of Plymouth were I passed with honours and went on to study a masters degree in songwriting and it is now very rewarding to pass on my knowledge to my students.

I teach students at their own pace and offer them the opportunity to learn grades, if they want to,  when they are ready.

Songwriting and being Creative with your Music

I encourage my students to be creative and offer advice and courses on songwriting. I spent a year studying the masters degree at Bath Spa University and learnt so many useful tips about how to be creative with songwriting and how to write a good song. I enjoy passing this knowledge on to my students.

The Arrival of the Season (Biddulph, Gwynne, Archer)

I have been lucky enough to have collaborated with Ivor Novello Award Winning songwriter Iain Archer (Snow Patrol) and Miles Biddulph, on a song called 'Arrival of the Season'.
