Born in Wigan, Greater Manchester, Tony Gwynne moved to Devon when he was six. Tony was born into a musical family who exposed him to the music of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s including The Beatles, The Kinks, Donavon, Nick Drake, The Wonder Stuff and the Stone Roses from which he is influenced, other influences iclude Fleet Foxes, Dry the River and Ben Howard.
Tony taught himself how to play on his brother’s £5 second hand guitar and set about learning how to write songs. Tony has collaborated with multi-platinum songwriter Paul Statham (Matt Cardle, Dido, Kylie Minogue). Tony also co-wrote songs with Ivor Novello Award winner Iain Archer (Snow Patrol, Example, Leona Lewis), American singer-songwriter Miles Biddulph and Heidi Berry (Creation Records/4AD), as well as writing and performing with up and coming Bristol based artists Sadie Fleming and Rebecca Dawn as well as Yorkshires Mark Chappell and many more.
The past three years have been musically industrious for Tony, seeing the completion of his debut album entitled ‘Hear Lies the Truth’, were he worked with producer and studio engineer John Carter at April Media Studios. ‘Hear Lies the Truth’ has been described as having a “mellow acoustic vibe, interspersed with up-tempo songs with a country-folkflavour provided by beautiful 3 part harmonies”. Number one hit songwriters Jez Ashurst and Paul Statham drew comparisons to ‘Fleet foxes, Nick Drake and Neil Young’ (Ashurst ’10 - Universal; Statham ’10 – Warner Chapel).

Currently Tony is working on songs with an open tuning in the style of Ben Howard and John Smith with Bristol based singer-songwriter Jake Treliving.
